If every person in the Guisborough area spent just £5 per week in their local independent shops, instead of online or at the big supermarkets, it would be worth an extra £4.2 million a year going into the local economy. Which means more jobs, better facilities & a nicer place for us all to live. Makes you think doesn’t it?
Guisborough is a traditional Yorkshire market town at the northern edge of the North Yorkshire Moors.
You’ll find a wealth of independent businesses in the town around Westgate, the main street.
Take a look around Chaloner Street, Fountain Street and Bow street, have a stroll up Westgate Road or past the Market cross and up Church Street and onto Bakehouse Square for a fabulous range of retailers and eateries.
A traditional market runs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and there are great specialist markets including the Totally Locally Independent market which runs every other month, on the first Saturday from April to December. As the ancient capital of Clevelend, the town is steeped in history, with its stunning priory remains and gardens and is the perfect place for a day out.

PLEASE DON’T SHARE, as it’s an old banner- Lovely people, our fab market banners seem to have gone walkies from August. I presumed the council had them (as they very helpfully take them down for me sometimes) - but no! Anyone seen two huge green banners? ... See MoreSee Less
I've got 10, yes, 10, of these super cute woodland themed tote bags to give away. I thought it would be a lovely autumnal giveaway.
All you have to do is tell me your favourite thing about this time of year in the comments below and I'll pick 10 of you to receive a bag.
You must be a liker of the page and you can share if you like (it really helps us small businesses out).
Closes midnight on November 17th so you have a week!
What is Totally Locally?
Totally Locally is an award-winning social enterprise and shop local movement. We support independent retailers with a free branding and marketing campaign for their town. Teams of volunteers use the campaign to promote the value of local shopping, celebrate their high street, create community events, and ultimately lift their local economy. Totally Locally is more than a shop local campaign, it’s about working together to lift a whole town.
Since we put the Town Kit online in November 2012, Totally Locally has gone crazy. It’s in over 50 towns in the UK and many in Australia and New Zealand, with loads more telling us they are starting it in their town.
It’s about people power. Totally locally has inspired huge local markets (one which included beach huts placed though a town!) , co working, Pop Up shops, Sunday openings in towns where it never happened, award winning events, produce swaps and much more. It’s up to you. And when people do something great we ask that they share the knowledge and give it away to all the other towns. That way we all thrive.
