If every person in the Leek area spent just £5 per week in their local independent shops, instead of online or at the big supermarkets, it would be worth an extra £4.1 million a year going into the local economy. Which means more jobs, better facilities & a nicer place for us all to live. Makes you think doesn’t it?
Totally Locally Leek is a traditional and vibrant market town on the edge of the Peak District. With a wealth of independent shops, cafes and pubs with regular weekly markets and weekend speciality markets including the award winning Sunday Supplement held on the first day of the month
Leek-based Borderland Voices, which uses the arts to help people with mental health issues, was named runner-up in the Community Group of The Year category at The Sentinel's Our Heroes Awards. A huge well done to all those involved!
Thinking of getting a new bike? Put off by the local terrain? Maybe an eBike could be just the ticket? It's a bike with a helping hand electric motor for just when you need it to make things a bit easier.

Finally!! It's taken longer than I'd hoped to get It sorted but we have confirmed the Merida eBike demos. There's good news and bad news though.
First the bad news. Due to unprecedented demand we haven't got an entire week. Just Saturday morning until Tuesday evening.
Now the good news!! We have 2, yes 2!!, bikes available to demo. The stunning 160 in a large frame and it's younger sibling the perfectly formed 120 in a medium frame.
Double the bikes means double the availability!!
The bikes will be available for half day demos apart from Sunday when I’m planning to head over to Three Shires Head to enable some serious session-ing fun for everyone who wants to join me.
What is Totally Locally?
Totally Locally is an award-winning social enterprise and shop local movement. We support independent retailers with a free branding and marketing campaign for their town. Teams of volunteers use the campaign to promote the value of local shopping, celebrate their high street, create community events, and ultimately lift their local economy. Totally Locally is more than a shop local campaign, it’s about working together to lift a whole town.
Since we put the Town Kit online in November 2012, Totally Locally has gone crazy. It’s in over 50 towns in the UK and many in Australia and New Zealand, with loads more telling us they are starting it in their town.
It’s about people power. Totally locally has inspired huge local markets (one which included beach huts placed though a town!) , co working, Pop Up shops, Sunday openings in towns where it never happened, award winning events, produce swaps and much more. It’s up to you. And when people do something great we ask that they share the knowledge and give it away to all the other towns. That way we all thrive.
