Opened by the Mayor, this Totally Locally West Bridgford ‘mini department store’ opened just in time for Christmas Shopping. All participating pop-up partners are local and willing to spend their profits in local independent businesses so that many more businesses across the town will benefit from this initiative.
The idea is that people trialling new concepts in small businesses will gain confidence in taking theirs onto the high street and help fill empty shops on their high street.
Totally Locally stockings were also offered as prizes via chances to win with £1 raffle tickets. Each contained a mystery prize and money raised hampers for the homeless from local independent shops so many people will benefit from each £1 spent – how ace is that!
The project was a huge success, taking over £9,000 within the first 10 days of opening. Businesses in the pop-up shop saw a marked increase in customers coming into their own shops (particularly those tucked away not right on the high st).
The estate agent that gifted the empty space for free for 30 days also asked for 20 Totally Locally hampers to be made for their customers and staff, all with locally made or produced items that included beer, honey, cheese etc.
