Say hi to the latest town in the Totally Locally Family, West Kilbride in North Ayrshire, Scotland!
There was a growing buzz developing on Facebook in West Kilbride in advance of their launch event – this included local shops offering the best of local produce, and fantastic offers to celebrate West Kilbride’s independent shops and businesses.
The streets were filled with music as local man, Drew Kirkwood, created a party atmosphere in Boyd Orr Gardens with his pop-up DJ station. There was free entertainment for families with young children with a bouncy castle and face painting.

A Local taxi firm even offered a courtesy taxi from anywhere in the village to the town centre for the duration of the event!
The day also heralded the beginning of the town’s first Fiver Fest, with many local shops and businesses creating special offers for the day – highlighting Totally Locally’s message that if everyone in West Kilbride spent just £5 a week in local independent shops, it would bring an extra £1.3 million into the town’s economy every year.
“This is a chance for locals to discover West Kilbride’s great shops and businesses, and the real difference they make to our town,” Craig Masterton, La Dolce Vita.
The Totally Locally West Kilbride team also printed our Disloyalty Cards, where shoppers can collect four stamps and get a free regular coffee at one of three cafes in the town after spending in four different independent businesses.
