One of the latest towns to go Totally Locally is Dinnington in South Yorkshire.
Volunteers from the newly form team manned a stall at their local market to launch the campaign there. The stall was packed with information for locals to digest and the team were even colour co-ordinated with the Town Kit colours!
Not long after their launch, they were invited to Number 10 Downing Street to meet the Chancellor of the Exchequer at a reception for local business champions. The Chancellor acknowledged in his speech the difficulties businesses are currently having due to the energy crisis and assured that the Government are doing everything they can to help with this.
Julia from Julz Boutique, Fiona from TheHaberdashery and Dave from Deeelicious Sandwiches and Deli are part of the Totally Locally Dinnington team and along with £12 million of Government funding are looking to revitalise Dinnington’s high street.
Rother Valley MP Alexander Stafford: “It was great to be able to introduce the Dinnington Totally Locally team to the Chancellor to discuss the government’s support for high streets. There is concern that some people have forgotten the wonderful variety of shops and cafes on our high streets, so Totally Locally is an incredibly important initiative to encourage people back on to our high street and support the great local businesses located there.”
