TOTALLY LOCALLY KNARESBOROUGH’S FIRST STEPS

It’s only been a couple of months since we first introduced Totally Locally to Knaresborough’s business community, but in that short time, the energy and progress has surprised even us!

After our initial visit, a passionate group of business owners came together to launch Totally Locally Knaresborough, working closely with us to tackle the town’s unique challenges.

Their key priorities?

  • Boosting visibility for local businesses and what they offer
  • Strengthening collaboration between town groups, businesses, and the town centre & waterside
  • Creating easy access to local info – events, maps, and a dedicated website

And we have wasted no time turning plans into action!

Professional business portraits – friend and professional photographer Sarah Mason and Knaresborough local Brian King captured the faces behind Knaresborough’s independent shops, creating a brilliant gallery of the people who make the town special.

A brand-new website – these portraits now form the heart of an online representation of the high street – showcasing local businesses, their stories, upcoming events and essential visitor info – all in one place. See totallylocallyknaresborough.org to check it out for yourself.

Poster campaign launch – thanks to the generosity of Sid Horner and Son (who printed them for free!), businesses are now displaying eye-catching “Declaration of Independence” and “We Recommend” posters in their windows. It’s all about celebrating local love and cross-promoting – because when independents support each other, everyone wins!

A Month of Sundays trial – One big topic in Knaresborough – Sunday trading. With plenty of weekend visitors but limited openings, businesses often hesitate to take the first step. So the group came up with a brilliant solution – a trial month where multiple businesses open on Sundays together, testing the demand and proving the potential. And they’ve even given it a brilliant catchy name… “A Month of Sundays”!

From photoshoots to websites, collaborations to bold new initiatives, Knaresborough’s Totally Locally movement is already making waves and this is just the beginning.
